FAQ

HOW DO YOU REGISTER?

Teachers are advised to call over at the CALSDA office during regular working hours between 8.30 am and 4.00 pm Monday to Friday and fill a ‘Registration Form.’ You may even contact the office and give the required information on the phone. Thereafter they could be in contact with the office, enter pupils and participate in CALSDA activities regularly as all notices and relevant documents regarding office activities and examinations are sent to registered teachers.

WHEN ARE EXAMINATIONS HELD?

Practical  Examinations

Practical examinations are held throughout the year. The first session is from January to August and the official closing date is usually the last Friday in February. The second session is from September to December and the official closing date is usually the first Friday in August.

Teachers may also select the date / month / period of their students’ examinations and enter them at least six (6) weeks prior to the requested date of the examination. A suitable date may be arranged in consultation with the office staff depending on availability.

Theory  Examinations

Written examinations are usually held twice a year – usually on the last Saturday / Sunday of May or June and the last Saturday / Sunday in October or November. Information regarding the dates of examinations and official closing dates are given in the INOFRMATION BOOK for the current year.

IS IT PERMITTED FOR A CANDIDATE TO ENTER FOR MORE THAN ONE EXAMINATION WITHIN A YEAR?

A candidate may enter for more than one examination. The relevant forms have to be duly filled and handed over to the office with proof of payment at least six weeks prior to the requested date of examination. If entering for more than one examination, Written English candidates need to complete their examinations within a stipulated time – usually three hours on the day of the examination.

IF A CANDIDATE ENTERS BUT DOES NOT SIT THE EXAMINATION, ARE THE FEES REFUNDABLE?

Examination Entry Fees are not refundable. Monies paid in respect of a particular candidate will not be refunded, nor will the substitution of one candidate for another be permitted under any circumstances.

HOW CAN ENTRY FORMS BE OBTAINED?

Entry forms could be collected from the office during working hours between 8.30 am and 4.00 pm Monday to Friday. The relevant Entry Form for each Subject should be used and each form should be used for one grade only.

ARE THERE AGE LIMITS FOR CANDIDATES WHO ARE SITTING FOR EXAMINATIONS?

There are no age limits for candidates sitting examinations. However to be considered for a Prize you have to be within a certain age limit. (Details of age limits are given in the Information Book for the current year, the syllabus and the Website.)

Ages for Prizes will be considered as at 1st January of the current year (2016)

CAN THE EXAMINATION ENTRY FEES BE HANDED OVER AT THE CALSDA OFFICE?

Examination Entry Fees should be paid into Account No. 1220000192 at the COMMERCIAL BANK Narahenpita OR at any Branch of the Commercial Bank. (Please do not deposit Cheques). Online bank slips should have the relevant details of the teacher or candidate. The teacher should keep a copy of the payment slip. Clear payment slips should be sent to the office with the entry forms of candidates. Entry fee Payments will not be accepted at the CALSDA office. Only names of candidates filled on the Official Entry forms available in the CALSDA office will be accepted. Entries sent in any other form (e.g. back of credit slips etc.) will NOT be accepted.
