TEACHERS’ CERTIFICATE AND DIPLOMA EXAMINATIONS

“Only the best teaching assures the best learning”. The ever escalating demand for teaching and learning has prompted CALSDA to design a spectrum of examinations catering to specific needs of teachers at varied levels such as Teaching of English to Young Learners, Teaching of English to Intermediate Learners, Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages, the Associate Diploma in the Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages, the Licentiate Diploma in the Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages, the Diploma in Speech & Drama (Primary Teaching and Advanced Teaching), the Associate Recital Diploma, the Associate Teachers Diploma, the Associate Performers Diploma, the Licentiate Teachers Diploma and the Licentiate Performers Diploma. These examinations consist of both practical and theoretical components relevant to each subject.

Besides the conduct of examinations, CALSDA continues to focus on its mission – by communicating with teachers regularly and responding to their reasonable needs and expectations, placing special emphasis on assisting teachers who need guidance and support in establishing their teaching careers.

At workshops organised by CALSDA teachers are able to discuss and clarify syllabus requirements and also make constructive suggestions for further improving the syllabi so that students would acquire higher levels of achievement. The range of services also extend to the provision of teacher-support material, graded workbooks for young learners, comprehensive compilation of Speech and Drama theory notes and individual teacher guidance. The aim is to serve the demands of a changing world and make examinations an enjoyable experience for the candidates and train teachers and assist them in every possible way encouraging a healthy rapport between examiners and teachers.
