Seminars and Workshops

The need for Teacher Development programmes has been identified as an important area in the process of promoting English Language Skills. Workshops, seminars and teacher/examiner dialogues have been organized both in Colombo as well as out of Colombo, where teachers are able to discuss and clarify syllabus requirements and also make constructive suggestions that would enable students to acquire higher levels of achievement. Comprehensive and resourceful handouts related to the various subjects in the syllabus are specially compiled for the benefit of the participants.

Some of the places where workshops have been held include Colombo, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Badulla, Kegalle, Kurunegala, Moratuwa, Panadura, Kalutara, Beruwela, Ratnapura, Galle, Matara, Gampaha, Negombo, Chilaw, Puttalam, Trincomalee, Anuradhapura, Batticaloa, Kalmunai, Vauniya, Mannar, Jaffna and the English Teacher-Training Institutes at Maharagama, Peradeniya (in the Kandy District), Bolawalana (in the Negombo District). The workshop programmes cover subjects in the CALSDA syllabi and include lecture demonstrations by Examiners and performances by candidates which are greatly appreciated by the teachers present.
